Tonya S Wright MD and Ato O Wright MD PhD are the passionate visionaries behind the Wright Art Collection and the Wright N.A.O Art Foundation.  The Wright Art Collection is a growing and thoughtfully curated legacy collection dedicated to celebrating and preserving Black art and culture. United by their shared love of visual storytelling, cultural heritage, and community empowerment, the Wrights have built a collection that highlights the richness, diversity, and depth of the African diaspora through the lens of contemporary and historical art. 

What began as a personal journey—collecting pieces that spoke to their history, identity, and upbring—slowly grew into something much greater. As they built the Wright Art Collection, piece by piece, they found themselves drawn not just to the art itself, but to the powerful stories behind each work and its ability to be a force for healing, advocacy, equity and social transformation.  This belief fueled the development of The Wright N.A.O foundation and their commitment to using art as a catalyst to support causes that matter deeply to them.

Tonya Wright, an Obstetrician and Gynecologist, and reproductive health advocate is a native of the British Caribbean Island of Anguilla.  Ato Wright, a Radiation Oncologist and native of Ghana, West Africa.  They met in 2009 while in medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine and began their unified collecting journey together in 2015 after completing their respective residency training at Pennsylvania Hospital and Duke University.  Together they have three sons and reside in Pennsylvania. 

The name Wright N.A.O Foundation carries a deeply personal meaning. N.A.O is more than an acronym—it represents the first letters of their sons’ names, and with that, it carries the greatest hopes for the future.  This work is not just about the present—it’s about legacy, longevity, and the world they are helping to build for future generations.

Together, the Wrights have transformed their personal passion into a platform for connection, education, and inspiration. The Wright Art Collection and Wright N.A.O not only showcases powerful works of art but also fosters dialogue, builds community, and honors the legacies that shape our present and future.
